We begin the day with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel in Tirana and drive toward Lake Bovilla, one of the most striking natural areas in central Albania. As we leave the city behind, the scenery shifts to rural landscapes, dramatic rock formations, and panoramic views over the emerald reservoir.

Upon arrival, we start our guided hike toward Gamti Peak, the highest viewpoint overlooking the lake. Depending on your preference and fitness level, we choose between two trail options:

Easy Trail - “Balcony of Bovilla”
Elevation Gain: ~300 meters
Elevation Loss: ~300 meters
Distance: ~6 km (round trip)
Time: ~2-3 hours
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Summit Altitude: ~550 meters

We follow a well-marked path leading to the famous “Balcony of Bovilla,” a natural viewing platform suspended above the lake. From here, we take in sweeping views of the surrounding forests, valleys, and the Bovilla hydropower dam. The trail includes some uneven and rocky sections but remains accessible for most active travelers.

Challenging Trail – Gamti Peak Summit

Difficulty: Challenging
Summit Altitude: ~ 1,822 meters

For those seeking a more demanding experience, we continue the ascent to the summit of Gamti Peak. The trail becomes steeper and rockier, and the effort is rewarded with expansive views across the mountain range and the shimmering lake below.

Along the way, we stay attentive to local wildlife. The area is known for foxes and bird species such as golden eagles and peregrine falcons, often seen soaring above the cliffs.

After the hike, we enjoy free time to relax. You may choose to have lunch at a local farm-style restaurant overlooking the lake, offering traditional dishes in a peaceful setting.

In the afternoon, we drive back to Tirana and drop you off at your accommodation, concluding a guided day immersed in Albania’s natural beauty.
